Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor has opened up Rekha’s exit from his much talked about next ‘Fitoor’.

Talking to PinkVilla, Kapoor said it was better to agree than disagree with Rekha at the time of her decision. That is when Tabu stepped into the project.

He said, “People want to see more in it than it actually is. We were very excited about Rekhaji doing our film. Character that she was playing or what Tabu has played now is a very complex one. It is a huge and very important part in the film. Theoretically, Rekhaji and I jammed on it and went for the shooting but then we realised that we didn۪t see it in the same way and so it was better that we just agreed to disagree. We just shot for two to three days and I felt this was the not the film for Rekhaji and me to collaborate on. It had to do something with the technicalities about how the character should be approached. And it was better to part ways, to separate at this stage rather than suffer through and through and not move ahead. Fortunately for me, Tabu was available and she loved the part and took it up.”

Kapoor told the publication that there was no animosity with Rekha, No, not at all. Rekhaji is a wonderful and generous lady. Most people don۪t know much about her but I had the great experience of working closely with her. Unfortunately, it did not materialise but I have the highest amount of love and respect for her.”
