ZEE TV UK to begin airing &TV shows from April

With rumours of &TV facing closure in the UK, ZEE TV UK will begin broadcasting shows from the channel for the first time in April.

BizAsiaLive.com can reveal that ZEE TV UK has scheduled two sitcoms ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’ and ‘Shaadi Ke Siyape’ from the &TV library, on its main channel in the weekend slot from Saturday 13th April at 18:00. The two shows have not yet shown on &TV, so will be a first for UK viewers.

Up until now, &TV shows have aired exclusively on the channel. However, it could be a strategic move to ramp up original content on ZEE TV in the weekend slot, which has been heavily dependent on movies. The network has done well with its comedy shows like ‘Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain’ (&TV) and ‘Uff Yeh Nadaniyaan’ (ZEE TV).

Industry speculation is rife over ZEE UK’s plans this summer. It is believed that the broadcaster will focus primarily on its two flagship channels, ZEE TV and ZEE Cinema under a new strategy.
