ZEE TV to launch two new shows in June

It۪s the case of out with the old and in with the new for ZEE TV in June. The channel will be launching three new shows with old favourites Saat Phere۪, Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann۪ and Dance India Dance۪ making their exits.

Whilst Dance India Dance۪ is reaching its season finale and being replaced with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs۪, Saat Phere۪ and Dulhann۪ are being shown the door after a ratings decline.

Saat Phere۪s 20:00 slot is being filled by new show Apki Antra۪, which is based on the life of a special girl child called Drishtant who happens to be the pivotal character on the show. Reports have compared the series to Aamir Khan۪s Bollywood blockbuster Tare Zameen Par۪.

Producer Monish Sekhri says, Drishtant is as young as 10 months and Aapki Antra is our debut show. The series is set in a backdrop which is highly realistic. This is the story is of girl child who is special. Apple is playing the child girl and the rest of the cast is an ensemble of actors from theatre.۝

A huge show filling the coveted 21:00 21:30 band is Ekta Kapoor۪s latest production Pavitra Rishta۪. As revealed exclusively by BizAsia.co.uk weeks earlier, the Balaji Telefilms soap will replace Dulhann۪.

According to India-Forums, ‘Pavitra Rishtha’ will have the basic flavour of Mumbai and the story will focus on a middle to lower middle class Mahrashtrian family.

“The protagonist is a well-cultured, less-educated girl Archana who is past her marriageable age. Savitha Prabhune and Ajay Rohia essay the role of her parents. While the mother prays that her daughter gets a well-educated boy in her life, her father is more of the practical type. Archana has a brother, bhabhi and two younger sisters, of which one is working and the other is in college. The show will also have Swati Anand who was earlier seen in Kasamh Se.
She will essay the role of Archana’s Bhabhi and her character will be grey,” reports the website.
