ZEE Muzic joins TV ratings body BARB

Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB) will officially report the viewership ratings of ZEE Network’s free-to-air channel ZEE Muzic, it was confirmed today.

The data, which will be effective from Friday 10th October means ZEE Muzic will be only the third Asian TV channel to have signed up to BARB, after Prime TV and Sunrise TV.

It’ll be interesting to see how the ratings shape up for ZEE Muzic after Sunrise TV claimed a weekly reach of 356,000 for one week in August. Since then, the London broadcaster has used the data to pole itself as “the leading Asian TV channel in the UK” despite other big guns like STAR Plus, ZEE TV, Sony TV, NDTV Imagine and 9X not being BARB registered.

It is not yet clear whether flagship channel ZEE TV and popular service ZEE Cinema will be following sister station ZEE Muzic the BARB way.

ZEE Muzic recently joined the newest digital TV platform Freesat, a project backed by the BBC and ITV.
