ZEE Network has supposedly forked out a humongous Rs. 75 crore for the soon-to-release wrestling saga, ‘Dangal’.

SpotBoye reports that up until now, it was Sony Entertainment Television that paid the most for a one-movie acquisition and that was for ‘Dhoom 3’ – worth around Rs. 65 crore. However, not to be left behind in the war of movie rights for telecast, ZEE Network has reportedly gone one further to buy the rights of the Aamir Khan film.

The report says that the film is co-produced by Khan and Disney UTV but Khan has a 70 per cent share in the project. A source from Disney told the publication, “The minimum guarantee in this deal is Rs 55 crore, while the rest Rs 20 crore will be given if and when the film crosses Rs 100 crore mark.”

Meanwhile, a ZEE source added, “We have immense faith in Aamir’s films and Dangal is no exception. We are very happy to associate ourselves with Dangal. Going by the trailer, the film is looking very good and there is no reason why it should not be a superhit.”

‘Dangal’ hits cinemas on 23rd December. It also stars Sakshi Tanwar, along with Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.
