ZEE Cinema UK grabs ICC World Cup Hindi highlights

ZEE Network UK has confirmed to BizAsia that it has acquired the Hindi highlight rights for this year’s ICC World Cup.

While details were still quite premature at the time of filing this article, ZEE Network confirmed that it would be showing the highlights in Hindi on its ZEE Cinema channel. However, all modalities were still yet to be finalised.

Incidentally, ZEE Network UK was the official broadcaster of the 2011 ICC World Cup (Hindi commentary) but this time the network has settled for just Hindi highlights. The highlights package will be aired under the ‘Cinematic Cinema’ brand on ZEE Cinema UK. Industry speculation earlier suggested that it would not be so easy for any broadcaster to acquire Hindi rights for the tournament this time around due to contractual agreements and clash with Sky Asia Pack (Sky hold the UK rights for ICC World Cup) – ZEE Network UK seems to have silent its critics once again.

The ICC World Cup will be hosted by New Zealand and Australia this year. It starts on Saturday 14th February 2015. Due to time differences, matches will be played overnight (in UK). ZEE Network UK will announce details of its coverage in the coming days.
