Zayn Malik reveals next album will feature Indian influences
Zayn Malik has revealed that his upcoming fifth studio album will include Indian musical influences and could also feature tracks in Urdu.
The former One Direction singer confirmed that the new record is due next year and described it as a continuation of his 2016 debut ‘Mind of Mine’, which reached number one in several countries.
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column, Malik, 32, said: “I have been working on some cool stuff in South Asian music and bringing those influences into my music as well. It is like pop, R&B, and a lot of Indian influences. The record is like a continuation of Mind of Mine in that sense. I might have some songs coming out in Urdu, too”
Malik also said fans could expect new material before the album release, hinting at a collaboration: “I’ve got some new music coming out soon with another cool collaborator. That is coming out first. We have got some big things lined up. I think next year is going to be a big year.”
In addition to his upcoming album, the singer has recorded music for the soundtrack of the video game Borderlands 4. He also expressed an interest in one day hosting his own radio programme.
