‘Barfi!’, having been released in just 600 screens in India, has reached the Rs 60 crore sum in just six days and what with Madhur Bhandarkar’s much-awaited ‘Heroine’ releasing on Friday, one can imagine the box office will be cashing in on both. However, with ‘Heroine’ being released in 1500 screens, will it quash the silent success that ‘Barfi!’ has so clearly seen? Director Anurag Basu feels otherwise.

As reported by Times of India, Basu confidently expressed,”I was not expecting such tremendous response. In fact, when we conceived the idea to make Barfi!, we thought to make it ‘cost-effective’ and we made in Rs. 35 crore. I am pleasantly surprised and humbled by the success”.

He continued, “I don’t think Barfi! will be affected by Heroine. Both are different films and there are audience for all kinds of films”. Basu also divulged that Ranbir Kapoor was always the first choice for the film.

‘Heroine’ stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal and surrounds a real-life story of stardom.
