Vikram Gokhale passes away

Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale has died, aged 77.

Gokhale was hospitalised at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital a few days ago. He was placed on life support machine, with rumours on Wednesday that he had passed away. These were then denied by his family. However, his health further deteriorated today.

Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital’s PRO Shirish Yadgikar told Times of India, “Mr Vikram Gokhale passed away this afternoon. Our condolences to the family and near ones.” Gokhale’s family friend Rajesh Damle added, “His body will be kept at the Balgandharva Rangmandir in Pune at 4 pm for the antya darshan and the last rites will be done at Pune’s Vaikunth Smashan Bhumi at 6 pm.”

Gokhale’s daughter said, “This is to confirm that Mr Vikram Gokhale passed away this afternoon. We would like to thank everyone for their good wishes, support and prayers through this difficult time.”

Gokhale, who worked in Hindi and Marathi cinema, was renowned for his roles in films like ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Agneepath’ and ‘Khuda Gawah’.
