Vijayendra Prasad denies rumours of ‘Baahubali 3’

Following an outstanding result at the box office for ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ (2017), rumours of a third instalment have been doing the rounds, though this has been dismissed.

According to DNA India, it may have been suggested in previous tweets some time ago from S. S. Rajamouli that there could be a possibility of making part three of the franchise, but the fact that these were old tweets have been ignored in this instance.

In an interview with K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, the writer set the record straight on this saying, “No, we finished the story to Baahubali already. There cannot be a third part. My son and I haven’t planned anything and I am not writing it at this point as well.” However Prasad added, “There are comic series, and now a TV series will be made around the whole film. They will be shooting on the same sets. So that way, the world of Baahubali won’t end.”

The TV series has focused on the character of Queen of Mahishmati – Sivagami. It also happens to be Prasad’s favourite and is happy that her character is being explored deeper as they were not able to add this to the film. “There can be a prequel about Sivagami’s character, like they are exploring it on TV now. But it’s not on our mind right now. But I will be happy if there’s a story written about Sivagami’s character and how she became the strong and matriarchial figure in the kingdom. In fact, she is my favourite character.”

He explains why, “Because Sivagami’s character is not linear. She has so many shades to her. She is good, bad, evil and then again you feel bad for her and you also feel negatively about her. Sivagami is one of the strongest characters I have written.”
