Vidya Balan from on-screen dirty to off-screen clean
Recent news has it that Union Minister Jairam Ramesh hasapproached none other than Vidya Balan to be involved with campaigning for clean drinking water and sanitation.
The Times of India reported how the public will see The Dirty Picture (2011) actress spreading awareness for the cause with Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan formally known as Total Sanitation Campaign. Ramesh described Balan۪s involvement as a clean picture and is hoping that it will bringaboutmore awarenessregarding cleanliness and hygiene.
Speaking to reporters about her involvement and becoming an ambassador, Balan stated, For an actor, what can be a better thing than doing a dirty picture on screen and off screen a clean picture. I think this role will work a lot because we are working on a national movement.
Although India is one of the world fastest growing economies, sufficient sanitation is still a huge problem in the country.
