Viacom18’s VOOT set for UK launch in November

Viacom18 has firmed up plans to go international with its digital platform, VOOT.

BizAsiaLive.com understands that VOOT will be making its first international stop in the UK this November. VOOT could become the first of the major Indian OTT platforms to arrive in the UK. Star TV’s Hotstar and ZEEL’s ZEE5 are also said to be in the final stages of launching in the UK. Sony’s SonyLIV is also on the verge of making a splash internationally but it is not yet known when at this stage.

Incidentally, Viacom18 has just unveiled 18 multi-lingual premium web shows under the brand VOOT Originals. While details of VOOT’s UK launch plans are being kept underwraps, it is believed that Viacom18 will also make available its linear channels Colors, Rishtey, Rishtey Cineplex, MTV Beats and News18 on VOOT. However, it is not yet known in what capacity as Viacom18 is still an agreement with Sky for another couple of years.

Colors is currently focusing on the launch of ‘Bigg Boss 12’, which gets underway in September.
