Venus TV syndicates MTV Asia programming

Venus TV has clinched a deal with VPS Communications Ltd, which will allow the popular free-to-air broadcaster to show selected shows from MTV Asia.

VPS Communications Ltd are sole distributors of MTV Asia (MTV India, MTV Pakistan and MTV Bangladesh) content for the UK and Europe territories.

There had been rumours suggesting that MTV India could be launching as a complete channel in the UK but these have been put to rest after today’s developments.

The programme syndication deal today means that Venus TV will be allowed to air up to 60 minutes (per day) of programming from MTV Asia. The duration of this may increase in days to come. Specific programming details were not available at the time of filing this article.

Venus TV will begin MTV Asia programming from February 2007.

Furthermore, Venus TV has also grabbed the UK telecast rights for the MTV Asia Style Awards 2006, which were hosted by film maker Karan Johar, last October.

Vijay Soni, Head of VPS Communications confirmed today’s developments to BizAsia.co.uk. In the past, Soni has been in similar tie-ups with various other broadcasters including MATV, RTV (Asia 1 TV) and ATN Global.
