Vasai DCP claims “accusations not false, there’s evidence” in Pearl V Puri case

After news emerged about TV actor Pearl V Puri allegedly raping and molesting a minor, the television industry has come out in support of the actor with ‘I Stand With Pearl’ trending on Saturday.

One of the big wigs to voice her support was Ekta Kapoor, who has worked with Puri in ‘Naagin 4’. She shared a long note where she claimed to have spoken to the victim’s mother who told her that Pearl is innocent.

Hitting back at Kapoor, Vasai DCP Sanjay Kumar Patil has now said that the accusations are not false and that there is evidence. In a press conference, Patil said, “No, the accusations are not false. His name has come up in the investigation. There is evidence against him. That is why the police has arrested him. The truth will be decided in the trial.”

The officer revealed that it was the victim’s father who filed a complaint after the incident occuring on the sets of ‘Naagin 4′ in 2019. He added, “The victims’ statement was recorded and a medical examination was also done. Her statement was also recorded under CrPC 164. The accused was arrested as he had a role in the incident.”

Puri was sent to a 14-day judicial custody.
