Sharing screen space with a senior actor, who is undoubtedly one of Bollywood’s biggest superstar’s, could come across as quite daunting for a new generation actor. However, Varun Dhawan says he is not afraid of being overshadowed by his senior, Shah Rukh Khan, in ‘Dilwale’, as he understands the process of filmmaking.

Speaking toDNA India, Dhawan said, “I am a director۪s son and I know what matters at the end of the day is the film. The screenplay and the story has to come together and it۪s the director۪s vision. What part each actor is playing is separate. I don۪t believe in that thing that he is the hero, iska itna time hona chahiye, itne scenes hone chahiye. At the end of the day, we are all characters and the director moulds us into what he wants us to play and uses us to tell his story.”

It can be noted that Dhawan has previously worked with Khan when he was assistant director on ‘My Name Is Khan’ (2010). Khan was also co-producer for ‘Student Of The Year’ (2012), which marked Dhawan’s acting debut.

‘Dilwale’ stars Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan, alongside Kajol, Kriti Sanon and Johnny Lever. The film is being directed by Rohit Shetty and slated for a Christmas 2015 release.
