UK TV Reach: Star Plus edges closer to 700k; Sony TV jumps to No.2

Star Plus continued to grow in weekly reach figures for the third consecutive week, despite competition from rival channels, according to official data from BARB for week ending Sunday 10th September 2017.

Star Plus registered 691,000 viewers (last week 676,000 viewers), followed by Sony Entertainment Television with 330,000 viewers, Hum TV with 328,000 viewers, Star Bharat with 321,000 viewers, Hum Masala with 268,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 238,000 viewers, Rishtey with 237,000 viewers, ZEE TV with 231,000 viewers, Colors with 230,000 viewers, Prime TV with 229,000 viewers, Zing with 208,000 viewers and &TV with 201,000 viewers.

The next tier consisted of Geo Kahani with 167,000 viewers, Geo TV with 166,000 viewers, Sony SAB TV with 158,000 viewers, Venus TV with 121,000 viewers, PTV Global with 101,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 85,000 viewers, Star Utsav with 81,000 viewers, ATN Bangla with 80,000 viewers, Urdu 1 Europe with 61,000 viewers, ZEE Punjabi with 55,000 viewers and A Plus Europe with just 16,000 viewers.

Movie genre
Sony MAX slipped to No.3 in the movie genre ratings, while Star Gold bounced back up with a reach of 405,000 viewers (last week 246,000 viewers), followed by Rishtey Cineplex with 371,000 viewers, Sony MAX with 350,000 viewers, ZEE Cinema with 219,000 viewers and B4U Movies with 154,000 viewers.

Music genre
B4U Music accelerated ahead with 240,000 viewers, followed by Brit Asia TV with 138,000 viewers, MTV Beats with 69,000 viewers and Sony Mix with 47,000 viewers.

News genre
ABP News claimed the No.1 position in the South Asian news genre with 312,000 viewers, followed by Geo News with 307,000 viewers and Aaj Tak with 259,000 viewers. NDTV 24×7 was in fourth with 252,000 viewers, followed by Dunya News with 199,000 viewers, Samaa TV with 184,000 viewers, New Vision TV with 173,000 viewers, Times Now with 50,000 viewers and News18 with 25,000 viewers.
