UK TV Reach: ARY News & Prime TV soar

The weekly reach of most of the Pakistani news and entertainment channels in UK flourished in latest data by BARB for week ending 11th December 2016.

Despite its legal troubles, ARY News re-affirmed its place as the UK’s most watched South Asian news channel. It delivered a reach of 545,000 viewers (last week 518,000 viewers). The top rated show on the channel during the week was ‘Sawal Yeh Hai’ with 76,000 viewers at 17:05 on Sunday. ‘News at 7pm’ on Monday raked in 55,000 viewers, while ‘News at 4pm’ on Monday was just behind with 54,000 viewers.

Geo News held on to the second position in the South Asian news genre in UK, with 344,000, followed by SAMAA TV with 261,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 231,000 viewers and Geo Tez with 224,000 viewers. The next tier consisted of Aaj Tak with 193,000 viewers, Dunya TV with 174,000 viewers, ABP News 129,000 viewers, News18 with 59,000 viewers and Times Now with 30,000 viewers.

In the entertainment space, Star Plus held on to the lead by a distance with 816,000 viewers (last week 861,000 viewers), followed by Colors with 587,000 viewers (last week 571,000 viewers) and Rishtey with 491,000 viewers (last week 395,000 viewers). Sony SAB TV was at No.4 with 472,000 viewers, Rishtey Cineplex was at No.5 with 470,000 viewers and Star Gold in sixth with 469,000 viewers.

The next tier consisted of &TV with 431,000 viewers, Zing with 403,000 viewers, Prime TV with 373,000 viewers, Hum TV with 371,000 viewers and Life Ok with 366,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of Geo TV with 247,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 245,000 viewers, Venus TV with 148,000 viewers, Star Utsav and ATN Bangla with 124,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 123,000 viewers, PTV Global with 112,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 75,000 viewers and Akaal Channel with 66,000 viewers.
