In a surprising move, Hum TV Europe overtook Rishtey for the first time in the UK Asian TV ratings. Furthermore, another Pakistani broadcaster – ARY News – touched record heights by surpassing the ratings of Colors also for the first time.

According to official data from BARB for week ending Sunday 24th August, Star Plus was the clear leader at the top with 1,057,000 viewers (down from last week 1,145,000 viewers), followed by UMP Movies with 645,000 viewers (down from last week 649,000 viewers) and ARY News rounding off the Top 3 with 641,000 viewers (up from last week 557,000 viewers). The high tensions and violence in Pakistan have made ARY News the top South Asian news channel for news updates in the UK.

Next up was Colors with 609,000 viewers (down from 626,000), followed by Hum Europe with 547,000 viewers (up from 257,000), Rishtey with 542,000 viewers (up from 526,000), Star Gold with 469,000 (up from 401,000). Zing with 479,000 viewers (up from 472,000), Sony SAB TV with 374,000 viewers (down from 502,000), Star Life Ok with 379,000 viewers (up from 364,000) Lamhe with 362,000 viewers (down from 369,000) and PTV Global got best ever ratings with 206,000 viewers (up from 186,000).

The South Asian news channels was dominated by ARY News, followed by Geo News with 358,000 viewers (up from 321,000), SAMAA TV with 331,000 viewers (up from 167,000), Aaj Tak with 243,000 viewers (up from 185,000), ABP News with 200,000 viewers (up from 165,000), NDTV 24×7 with 124,000 viewers (down from 205,000) and News18 India with 67,000 viewers (up from 52,000).
