UK ratings: Hum TV & Geo TV only 2k apart

Geo TV has inched closer to Hum TV with only 2,000 viewers separating the two Pakistani entertainment rivals.

According to official data from BARB for week ending Sunday 3rd January 2016, Hum TV lost viewers and came down to one of its lowest weekly reaches on record. Star Plus remained the dominant force with 1,052,000 viewers (last week 921,000 viewers), followed by UMP Movies with a stronger 915,000 viewers (last week 703,000 viewers) and &TV in third with 756,000 viewers. Star Gold did well in fourth with 658,000 viewers (last week 495,000) and Colors was was placed fifth with 635,000 viewers (last week 620,000 viewers).

The next tier consisted of Rishtey with 587,000 viewers, SAB TV with 538,000 viewers and Zing with 514,000 viewers. Hum TV slumped to 383,000 viewers – losing 153,000 viewers from last week. Meanwhile, Geo TV was up from 351,000 viewers to 381,000 viewers. This is the closest the two channels have come since they joined BARB. PTC Punjabi did well with 374,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of DM Global with 295,000 viewers, Life Ok with 273,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 268,000 viewers, Prime TV with 250,000 viewers, Venus TV with 231,000 viewers, PTV Global with 177,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 174,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 101,000 viewers and TV 99 with 82,000 viewers.

ARY News remained the most watched South Asian news channel in the UK with 460,000 viewers (last week 544,000 viewers), followed by Geo TV with 381,000 viewers, ABP News with 252,000 viewers, Geo Tez and SAMAA TV with 227,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 225,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 209,000 viewers, Dunya TV with 198,000 viewers and News18 India with 68,000 viewers.
