UK ratings: Geo TV closes in on Hum TV

Geo TV has increased its weekly reach and come the closest yet to UK Pakistani market leader, Hum TV in latest data supplied by BARB for week ending Sunday 25th October.

According to official data, the gap between the two channels was merely 100,000 viewers – the narrowest gap between the two channels since Hum TV launched in the UK last year. Geo TV delivered a weekly reach of 352,000 viewers (last week 317,000 viewers) and Hum TV garnered a reach of 445,000 viewers (last week 496,000 viewers). The latter remained ahead of its rival, despite Geo TV overhauling its schedule with a new line-up of shows in the last few weeks. It is expected to grow further with the launch of new programming this week.

Star Plus remained on top of UK ratings with 1,087,000 viewers (last week 1,013,000 viewers), followed by Rishtey with 743,000 viewers (last week 743,000 viewers), Colors with 655,000 viewers (last week 701,000 viewers), &TV was in fourth place with 641,000 viewers (last week 678,000 viewers) and UMP Movies with 605,000 viewers (last week 673,000 viewers).

The next batch consisted of Zing with 590,000 viewers, Life Ok with 534,000 viewers, Star Gold with 483,000 viewers, Hum TV with 445,000 viewers, SAB TV with 413,000 viewers and Geo TV with 352,000 viewers.

The bottom tier included the likes of PTC Punjabi with 290,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 284,000 viewers, Prime TV with 257,000 viewers, Venus TV with 255,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 216,000 viewers, TV 99 with 196,000 viewers, PTV Global with 167,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 103,000 viewers and DM Global with 53,000 viewers.

ARY News stayed above the rest in the news category with a reach of 433,000 viewers (last week 464,000 viewers), followed by Geo News with 343,000 viewers and ABP News with 262,000 viewers.
The next tier consisted of Geo Tez with 227,000 viewers, SAMAA TV with 218,000 viewers, Dunya TV with 212,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 192,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 134,000 viewers and News18 India with 69,000 viewers.
