The two Birmingham based channels, Brit Asia TV and Sikh Channel have slumped to a record low in terms of weekly reach for week ending 22nd March.

According to official data from BARB, music and lifestyle channel, Brit Asia TV fell to 97,000 viewers (last week 122,000 viewers), while religious service, Sikh Channel could only register 90,000 viewers (last week 180,000 viewers) – making them both the least watched South Asian channels in the UK this week (exception of news). Rival, PTC Punjabi continued to lead the Punjabi TV genre despite also losing viewers this week.

Star Plus continued to fly the flag high as the most watched Asian channel in the UK with 1,098,000 viewers (last week 1,018,000 viewers), followed by Colors with 687,000 viewers (last week 529,000 viewers) and Rishtey in third with 636,000 viewers (last week 483,000 viewers). UMP Movies slipped to fourth place with 611,000 viewers (675,000 viewers) and Hum TV with 547,000 viewers (last week 506,000 viewers).

Next in the tier was Zing with 498,000 viewers, Lamhe with 466,000 viewers, Star Gold with 472,000 viewers, SAB TV with 367,000 viewers, Life Ok with 300,000 viewers, Prime TV with 298,000 viewers and Geo TV with 267,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTV Global with 172,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 163,000 viewers, DM Global with 134,000 viewers, Venus TV with 129,000 viewers, followed by Brit Asia TV and Sikh Channel.

The news genre continued to see ARY News lead with 437,000 viewers (last week 500,000), followed by Geo News with 297,000 viewers, Geo Tez with 256,000 viewers and ABP News with 236,000 viewers. Samaa TV was next with 234,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 204,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 145,000 viewers and News18 India with 49,000 viewers.
