TV Strike: Work resumes as decision reached

An agreement has finally been reached between the Federation of Western India Cine Workers (FWICE) and TV producers in the month-long strike in India.

Dinesh Chaturvedi, General Secretary, FWICE, confirmed to Exchange4Media that “the strike is off and the shootings, too, have resumed completely”. He was also quick to refute reports of fresh disputes during the shoots at some locations. He insisted, “There must have been some minor disputes, which at most times are blown out of proportion. The fact, however, is that the shootings have commenced full fledged from Monday 24th November, 2008.”

With the strike finally over and the workers resuming to work, the advertisers and broadcasters can now breathe easy and the viewers can also expect fresh episodes on the Hindi GECs soon. Chaturvedi also reiterated that the 12-member core committee formed on 21st November would resolve all the differences and sort out issues concerning both producers and workers.
