The Sun partners up with STAR India’s mobile

The Sun, Britain’s most popular red top newspapers has been named as one of the partners for STAR India’s new mobile commodity called PLUS.

This tie-up will see The Sun’s debut into the Indian market through the mobile content space. PLUS will be the exclusive gateway in India for lifestyle-related content from The Sun, targeted at the urban youth.

Other strategic partnerships are with personal financial portal Myiris.com, Zoom TV, and the National Geographic Channel would enable consumers to access a myriad world of information ranging from entertainment to business news.

Under this tie-up, Myiris.com would provide content like top market news, company news, sector news and mutual fund news. Initially the service would be offered free to PLUS subscribers.

Zoom TV would be the first third party channel to be added on PLUS under the genre of TV. Through this tie-up users can access Bollywood news, animations, wallpapers channel promo videos and Electronic Program Guide (EPG). National Geographic Channel would provide specialised and exclusive content like special animal ring tones.

Elaborating on these partnerships, Viren Popli, Senior Vice-President, STAR Mobile Entertainment, said, “Increasingly, mobile phones are becoming a source of network, communication infotainment. Today, mobile users demand a variety of services and facilities from their service providers. We at STAR Mobile Entertainment through our various alliances with companies in different industries intend to cater to all age groups.”
