The Sikh Channel pulled off-air on Sky due to “financial constraints”

The Sikh Channel has abruptly gone-off air today after it emerged that the service had outstanding bills to settle with transmission playout company, Arqiva.

The channel, which is available on Sky EPG 748, is currently broadcasting at zero level (black screen). It is believed the cash-strapped channel is seeking to raise over £100k, with at least half of that to cover two months of transmission costs.

A Whatsapp audio message between three of the channel’s executives has been received by various outlets including BizAsiaLive.com, in which they are requesting donors to come forward to cover all or part of the huge debt.

The Sikh Channel has fallen off-air previously but has returned days later. Depending on the seriousness of the current situation, it is not known when The Sikh Channel will/if resume broadcasting. The Sikh Channel continues to broadcast online here.

Update: The Sikh Channel resumed broadcasting on Friday 24th May.
