Technical snag delays release of ‘Dil Bechara’ on Hotstar in UK & USA
The much awaited release of ‘Dil Bechara’ on Hotstar has hit a technical hurdle for viewers in the UK, USA and Canada.
The film, which is the swansong of Sushant Singh Rajput, also stars Sanjana Sanghi. It was expected to premiere at 19:30 IST and simultaneously at local times in UK, USA and Canada. However, the film was nowhere to be found on the platform. In India, the film was added to Disney+ Hotstar without any issues. In the UK, Disney+ Hotstar is known as just ‘Hotstar’ with exclusive Indian content.
Viewers from UK, USA and Canada contacted BizAsiaLive.com to look into the matter. Our sources close to the streaming giant have said that Hotstar were looking into the issue. It is possibly down to the surge in traffic the film has attracted. However, there was no update on when ‘Dil Bechara’ will be available.
Hotstar has also responded to concerned Twitter users, who are unable to watch the film. In a general tweet, Hotstar’s international team has said, “Hi! We are facing some unexpected technical difficulties. Our team is working on making the movie available asap. We regret the inconvenience caused.”

Since the demise of Rajput in June, fans of the actor have generated global hype surrounding ‘Dil Bechara’. The film’s cinema release was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and a decision was made to stream ‘Dil Bechara’ on Hotstar globally. It will be available free.
Update: The film was available 90-minutes later than scheduled in international territories.
