Tanvi Azmi to play Ranveer Singh’s mother in ‘Bajirao Mastani’

Tanvi Azmi has been roped into essay the character of Ranveer Singh’s mother Radhabai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-touted project ‘Bajirao Mastani’, which will be a historic drama.

According to DNA, veteran actresses Shabana Azmi, Dimple Kapadia and Supriya Pathak were earlier being considered to play the important character but finally the filmmakers zeroed on Tanvi.

A source said, “Supriyaji was out because Bhansali had already worked his magic on her talent in ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela ��� Ram Leela’. Getting Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Surpriya Pathak together again in ‘Bajirao��_’ after ‘��_Ram Leela’ would have been too much of an instant replay.”

So, Bhansali finally thought that Tanvi would best suit to play the domineering character of Bajirao’s mother. Before being signed, Tanvi was tested on the basis of compatibility with Singh as the director wanted to make sure that they looked like mother-son.
