Tamil film ‘Kaithi’ remake to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi?

Tamil film director, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Kaithi’ (2019) is all set to be reprised in Hindi. Film studio Reliance Entertainment has acquired the rights to the film and rumours suggest there are plenty of filmmakers vying for the film, including Rajkumar Santoshi.

Reported on Deccan Chronicle, Santoshi who has expressed a keen interest in directing the film, recently attended a showing of the film. A source said, “I saw Rajkumar Santoshi sit inside a single screen in Goregaon watching the film because even he had heard a lot about the movie. Santoshi’s mother is a Tamilian and he understands the language. But the makers — which include Reliance as well as Prakashbabu — have not announced a director as yet for the film.”

However, there are some speculating that it could end up being Kanagaraj who directs the Hindi remake, but nothing has yet been finalised.

‘Kaithi’ (2019) is an action-thriller based on an ex-convict who wants to meet his daughter for the first time after being released from prison, but things don’t go quite as planned as he gets enlisted by an Inspector to help him protect the lives of his officers from criminal gangsters.
