Talat-Farooq Awan takes over BBC’s ‘Desi Download’

Talat-Farooq Awan has been announced as the new presenter for BBC’s local radio show ‘Desi Download’, which airs on BBC WM and stations in the West of England.

He replaces Satnam Rana, who is on maternity leave. Talat-Farooq Awan has been a presenter previously on BBC Radio Manchester and Radio Lancashire.

Talat said, “It is a great way to get a real flavour of the depth of journalism we have across BBC Local Radio in England.”

‘Desi Download’ producer Ruchi Tandon added, “At this time of uncertainty it shows the importance of local content and how it connects with an increasingly diversifying British South Asian population.”

‘Desi Download’ has been on-air since 2009 and broadcasts across the BBC’s local radio network on Sunday evenings.
