Star Plus confirms Barun Sobti’s exit in ‘IPKKND’

Star Plus has today issued a statement about the future of one of its most loved characters – Arnav Singh Raizada in the hit show ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’.

While it was no secret about Sobti’s intentions to quit the show, its the first time the channel has released a press statement to media outlets on the same. When talking to Raj Baddhan – Co-Founder of BizAsia, Sobti explained that he was taking an extensive break from the show due to personal reasons. He said that the grueling filming schedule has taken a toll on his health. He also said that he may look at film projects at a later date. He also confirmed that he has already filmed his final scenes and that the exit of his character will coincide with a twist in the storyline.

A question mark will no doubt be hanging over the show’s future after such a huge star leaving a popular show. However, Star Plus remains adamant that the show will continue. Whether or not Sobti returns at a later date, will depend on how the show shapes up after his exit.

Nachiket Pantvaidya, General Manager, Star Plus, said, “ASR is hugely popular with our viewers however Barun has decided that he wants to pursue films. As for the show, there will be some very interesting twists making the story extremely interesting.”

Sobti said, “I loved playing ASR and I am very thankful to Star Plus for giving me this opportunity. I also wish to thank my fans who have appreciated my character and showered me with unconditional love. However everyone wants to explore new avenues and I plan to work on a few movie projects now. In future I might comeback to TV someday. I would like to request my fans to continue loving me the same way.”
