The Delhi rape story continues to grip Bollywood following the girl’s death in Singapore yesterday. Many stars have come out to express their outrage but none quite like Shah Rukh Khan who even apologised for being a member of the male species.

He, like many others, took to Twitter. He said, “I am so sorry that I am a part of this society and culture…I am so sorry that I am a man”.

He went on to say, “We couldn۪t save you but what a big voice you have, you brave little girl. That voice is telling us that rape is not an aberration, not a mistake…Rape embodies sexuality as our culture and society has defined it. I am so sorry that I am a part of this society and culture”.

“I am so sorry that I am a man. I promise I will fight with your voice. I will respect women so that I gain my daughter۪s respect,” continued the 47-year-old.

A lot of well-known names have called for a change to be made to the laws in India whilst others are discussing how to punish the criminals. The debate continues.
