Special Feature: Six much awaited third-seasons on OTT in 2024

The year 2023 turned out to be truly exciting for the entertainment industry and fans of cinema and content. While the first half of the year witnessed massive blockbusters and a surge in theatre footfalls, the latter half continued the trend with bigger mass entertainers.

However, despite such an influx of fresh content, several sequels to earlier hit web shows are gearing up to dominate the OTT platforms in 2024. As we eagerly look forward to the coming year, takes a look at six highly awaited third-season OTT offerings that promise a thrilling and entertaining 2024.

Aarya Season 3
Co-created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi, the acclaimed series ‘Aarya’ has fans eagerly anticipating its highly awaited third season. Starring Sushmita Sen in the titular role, the show revolves around her character navigating the mafia world to protect her family. Aarya S3,’ co-directed by Ram Madhvani, Kapil Sharma, and Shraddha Pasi Jairath, Produced by Endemol Shine India and Ram Madhvani Films, the upcoming season promises to engage audiences with its gripping narrative and keep the audience on the edge of their seats with an exciting storyline.

Mirzapur Season 3
Created by Karan Anshuman & Puneet Krishna, ‘Mirzapur’ has been one of the most breakthrough web offerings in the Indian OTT space. Returning with its third season soon, the show will yet again showcase the rivalry between Kaleen Bhaiyaa and Guddu Pandit. Expected to be packed with action, the crime thriller will stream on Amazon Prime Video. Featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma, Ali Fazal, Vijay Varma, and Isha Talwar, amongst others, the show is set in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh and revolves around the life of Kaleen Bhaiya, who is shown as the Mafia boss of Mirzapur.

Delhi Crime Season 3
Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta has had his work honoured at various film festivals around the world. In 2019, he created, wrote, and directed the gripping crime series ‘Delhi Crime’ based on the 2012 Delhi gang rape case. Featuring Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal and Rajesh Tailang in the lead, the show received immense critical acclaim and appreciation from the audiences. Some of the true and most horrific events have been told through the show leaving a strong impact on the viewers. All set to return for its third season on streaming platform, Netflix, the Richie Mehta show has expectations soaring higher like never before.

Mismatched Season 3
Directed by Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Dharmadhikari and written by Gazal Dhaliwal, ‘Mismatched,’ streaming on Netflix, has emerged as one of the most beloved and talked-about shows. Starring Rohit Saraf and Prajakta Koli in the lead, the first two seasons of this coming-of-age romance received rave reviews from both critics and audiences. Based on Sandhya Menon’s book ‘When Dimple Met Rishi,’ the makers recently announced the third season on social media, leaving fans extremely excited. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies, the show boasts an ensemble cast, including Muskkaan Jaferi, Kritika Bharadwaj, Ruturaj Shinde, Rannvijay Singh, Taaruk Raina, Vidya Malvade, Sanjana Sarathy, and more. With the third season expected to drop in 2024, it will be interesting to see what twists Dimple and Rishi’s love story take in the upcoming season.

She Season 3
Streaming on Netflix, the critically acclaimed crime drama series ‘She’ is created and written by Imtiaz Ali and Divya Johry. Directed by Arif Ali and Avinash Das under the Window Seat Films banner, the show follows the life of a female constable who goes undercover to bust an underworld gang. Starring Aaditi Pohankar, Vijay Varma, and Kishore in the lead, ‘She’ Season 3 will continue the journey of Bhumika, the police constable, who has undergone a complete transformation. After the suspenseful ending of season 2, fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming season.

Panchayat Season 3
Set to return on Amazon Prime Video, ‘Panchayat,’ created by The Viral Fever, recently received the inaugural Best Web Series (OTT) Award at the 54th IFFI in Goa. A masterpiece in the OTT content space, the show follows Abhishek Tripathi’s journey, played by Jitendra Kumar, whose aspirations of pursuing an MBA take an unexpected turn when he becomes the panchayat secretary in a village. Co-starring Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta in pivotal roles, the unveiling of new stills from the upcoming season on social media has left fans eagerly anticipating season three of the show.
