‘Sooryavansham’ to end historic run on Sony MAX

Cult movie classic, ‘Sooryavansham’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, will soon end its run on Sony MAX – the broadcaster, which it has been associated with for many years.

Bollywood Hungama reports that the arrangement between Sony MAX and the movie will end within the next couple of years. The movie has already shifted online on Manish Shah’s Goldmines Telefilms channel. It will soon also move from its current linear platform, Sony MAX to Dhinchak Bollywood.

Shah said, “Sony Entertainment Television holds the satellite rights of Sooryavansham till 2024 or 2025. Once the rights lapse, I’ll play it on my channel, Goldmines Bollywood! I am not selling the rights to SET MAX again.”

It is worth stating that Sony MAX also lost rights to Yash Raj Film titles, with a lot of films already now being aired on Disney Star channels, or are in the process of moving.
