Sony TV axes ‘Kya Hua…’ for ‘Maharana Pratap’

Sony Entertainment Television Asia has confirmed to BizAsia that it will be bidding adieu to troubled show ‘Kya Huaa Tera Vaada’ for new drama ‘Maharana Pratap’ this month.

‘Kya Huaa Tera Vaada’ has unable to make any headway in the ratings since its launch in January 2012. Its final episode airs on Thursday 23rd May at 22:00 and replacing it will be replaced with Contiloe Productions drama ‘Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap’.

The drama is inspired by the life and times of the 16th century Rajput ruler. The lead will be played by Rajeev Bhardwaj and Shakti Anand, Aashka Goradia, Rajshree Thakur and Amita Udgata.

Confirming the news, Rajeev told a publication, “I am happy playing different historical and mythological characters on small screen. People often stereotype but I don’t think that way, I am just happy that various makers of TV shows have trust on me and are offering different characters to play. I am just enjoying my moment of glory.”

‘Maharana Pratap’ launches on Sony TV on Monday 27th May at 22:00.
