Sony TV acquires 16 new films from Eros Int.

Sony Entertainment Television Asia has acquired a batch of 16 new films from Eros International for a reported Rs 850 million (Rs 85 crores).

The new acquisition includes films like ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’ starring Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra. Last year’s mammoth hit ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ starring Sanjay Dutt will also get its exclusive TV premiere on the channel. The yet-to-be-released film ‘Namaste London’, out later this month at cinemas, will be shown on Sony TV soon.

Other film titles getting their exclusive showing on Sony will be ‘Eklavya – The Royal Guard’, ‘Partner’, ‘No Smoking’, ‘Cheeni Cum’, ‘Mahatma Versus Gandhi’, ‘Provoked’ (Hindi), ‘Nanhe Jaisalmer’, ‘Buddha Mar Gaya’, ‘Chess – A Game Plan’, ‘Friends For Ever’, ‘Mr Black Mr White’, ‘Mr Hot Mr Kool’ and ‘Aur Pappu Paas Ho Gaya’.

Sony will enjoy exclusive global satellite broadcasting rights to the original version of these titles for a period of five years.
