Sony India to launch regional channels under ‘SAB’

Sony Pictures Network has been given the nod by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to launch five new regional language channels under the ‘SAB’ brand.

According to reports, the broadcaster plans to launch SAB Punjabi, SAB Bangla, SAB Tamil, SAB Marathi and SAB Telugu. It is not known why the company has applied for the channels under the ‘SAB’ brand instead of ‘Sony’ when the ‘SAB’ brand is known for light-hearted content.

Sony currently has one channel dedicated to the Bengali community, Sony Aath.
