Sony Pictures Networks India has axed three channels from its line-up, as of 1st January 2019.

The three channels, – Sony Le Plex HD, Sony Rox HD and Sony Ten Golf HD – have been discontinued on all direct to home (DTH) and cable TV platforms immediately. However, programming from these channels is expected to continue on other Sony channels.

A spokesperson for Sony Pictures Networks India told TelevisionPost that the reason behind the closures of these three channels was mainly down to “dispersed and niche viewership”. It added that “their programming will be integrated with other mainstream channels within their respective genres.”

Sony Le Plex HD was a high-end premium English movie channel, which launched in August 2016, while Sony Rox HD primarily focused on music. It launched on 15th January 2017. It also differentiated itself with HD and Dolby audio quality music content to stand out from the crowd. Sony Ten Golf HD was India’s only golf sports channel.
