Sonam Kapoor out of Amrita Sher-Gil biopic
Sonam Kapoor has won many accolades for her performance as Neerja Bhanot in ‘Neerja’ (2016); which led to Kapoor being keen on doing another biopic. This time, based on the life painter Amrita Sher-Gil.
It was earlier stated that Kapoor had been brought in to play classic Indian painter Sher-Gil with Kapoor going as far as being in contact with Sher-Gil’s family in order to prepare for the role, reports Deccan Chronicle.
However, recently Kapoor stated that she is no longer a part of the project. “I’m not doing it anymore,” she said to media, without revealing any further details about why she opted out of it.
Sher-Gil, who was born to a Sikh father and a Hungarian mother, was known as India’s Frida Kahlo.
Kapoor is currently gearing up about her Republic Day release ‘PadMan,’ co-starring Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte. Her second release of the year ‘Veere Di Wedding’ is slated to open in cinemas on 18th May. She is also playing a crucial part in the upcoming Sanjay Dutt biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor which has been confirmed for a June release.
