SLB’s next Ranveer-Deepika starrer a ‘Padmavati’ adaptation?

There has been news of late that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was to bring together Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone for another film post the two successes of ��Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela�۪ (2013) and ��Bajirao Mastani�۪ last year. This time, Bhansali will apparently be adapting the opera ��Padmavati�۪ for Indian cinema, BizAsia has learnt.

Singh and Padukone will no doubt be excited to work with Bhansali again – should the casting news be true – and it seems he himself doesn�۪t really appear to look any farther than this real-life couple who create great magic on celluloid.

The story is about a Mongol sultan who, when making peace negotiations with Ratan-Sen in Chittor, asks for a glimpse of his wife Padmavati who is known for her beauty. The sultan says that if he can have a glimpse, he will start the peace process. Ratan Sen eventually tells his wife to give herself to the sultan but she chooses to die with him when he is stoned to death than hand herself over to the sultan.

Recent rumours also suggest that Shah Rukh Khan may feature in the film. However, it appears the cast is yet to be finalised.
