Shreya Ghoshal @ 40: Five actresses the singer has sung for recently

Singing for the likes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan this artist has become a legend for the way she expresses emotions through her songs. As a lover of classic Hindi films the singer revealed that had she been around in the black and white era she would have loved to have sung for the late Madhubala and the ever green Waheeda Rehman.

On the 40th birthday of Shreya Ghoshal BizAsiaLive.com will look at five actresses that Ghoshal has sung for recently.

Kriti Sanon in ‘Param Sundari’ from ‘Mimi’ (2021)
Not only did this film manage to create waves in the film industry but the song param sundari which was composed and arranged by A R Rahman became a rage. In many award ceremonies the song was nominated for numerous awards with Ghoshal receiving a lot of praise.

For Sanon this film made many who doubted her skills take her seriously. She won many awards in the best actress category for her performance and the song param sundari became a song many remember her for.

Sara Ali Khan in ‘Chaka Chak’ from ‘Atrangi Re’ (2021)
This was another collaboration with A R Rahman that Ghoshal did that year and what a treat for the listeners it was. Ghoshal was nominated for the best female playback singer at the 67th Filmfare Awards for this particular song. Irshad Kamil wrote the lyrics with Rahman creating the music.

Whether anyone remembers the film or not they will surely recall this song and the performance by Khan. While an engagement is taking place Khan’s character Rinku can be seen dancing merrily without a care in the world while Vishu (Dhanush) worryingly looks on. It was a playful song and the mix of Khan and Ghoshal together seemed to work splendidly well.

Tabu in ‘Mere Dholna’ from ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ (2022)
The iconic song made a comeback in this 2022 film and it was probably the first time that music lovers weren’t offended to hear a remake. First heard in the 2007 film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ this song became a favourite of many and no doubt the film’s most popular song. The classical vibes with the complex notes sung by Ghoshal and M.G. SreeKumar were something the listeners didn’t know they had been missing all their lives. On top of that Vidya Balan and Vineeth danced so passionately that it was impossible to look away for even a second.

In the sequel the audience gets to see Tabu dance to the vocals of Ghoshal, in fact not one but two tabu’s as she played a double role where the two sisters perform on the song. The audience were lucky as they got to witness the collaboration of both Ghoshal and Tabu and it was done so well. Not only this there were at least three versions of the song sung by Ghoshal in the film.

Shraddha Kapoor in ‘Maine Pi Rakhi Hain’ from ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ (2023)
Many were excited by the reunion of Kapoor and Ghoshal in a song especially after the hit sunn raha hai from ‘Aashiqui 2’ (2013). That song was loved by all and it suited Kapoor really well. This time the style is different and the mood is very party like with this song. Ghoshal went all out with this song proving that she can sing any song without any issues. It was an upbeat party number which many wouldn’t associate with Ghoshal but she sang with so much energy that many would wish to hear her sing more songs like this in the future.

Kapoor also deserves a round of applause for her electrifying performance. It would be difficult to imagine anyone else performing on this song instead of her.

Alia Bhatt in ‘Tume Kya Mile’ from ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ (2023)
This song was loved so much that people were waiting for the release of the solo version by Ghoshal. It was a romantic duet sung by Arijit Singh and Ghoshal with the music composed by Pritam. Shot in full Karan Johar style with dreamy sequences, Bhatt was dressed in numerous beautiful sarees on top of a snowy mountain with Ranveer Singh accompanying her. It really was the romantic melody everyone was waiting for.

Ghoshal never disappoints her fans because whenever she returns with a song she manages to surprise them with her versatility every time. One could say that with every song she does she attains more love from her fans.

The team at BizAsiaLive.com wishes Shreya Ghoshal a very happy 40th birthday and all the best for the future! For more features and showbiz news do check out the website for lots more.
