Shemaroo Entertainment acquires OHO Gujarati’s entire content library

Shemaroo Entertainment announced the acquisition of the complete content library of OHO Gujarati for its OTT platform ShemarooMe, marking a first-of-its-kind consolidation in the Gujarati OTT space. This deepens the platform’s commitment to regional storytelling while expanding its digital content portfolio in a focused and measured manner.

The acquisition brings over 30 original Gujarati web series, making it one of the most extensive collections of Gujarati web content. It also features work from more than 450 local actors. This move builds on ShemarooMe’s existing strength in Gujarati content, where the platform has steadily evolved into a more rounded content ecosystem that includes originals, curated libraries, and culturally rooted narratives.

On the development, Saurabh Srivastava – Chief Operating Officer – Digital Business at Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd., said, “As we bring the well-established catalogue of OHO Gujarati onto ShemarooMe, our focus remains on making high-quality Gujarati stories more accessible while continuing to invest in compelling content. With our strong connection to Gujarati viewers across the world, we believe these stories from the OHO catalogue can travel far and create an exciting entertainment offering for viewers.”

The first title to drop from the acquired library will be Pratik Gandhi starrer ‘Vitthal Teedi’, scheduled to stream on ShemarooMe from 10th April. Set in the heartland of Saurashtra in the 1980s, the acclaimed Gujarati web series follows a small-time gambler navigating the tension between personal ideals and the realities imposed by circumstances. ‘Vitthal Teedi’ combines character-driven storytelling with a rooted cultural backdrop. The series marks Pratik Gandhi’s first and only Gujarati web series appearance to date. Its soundtrack brings together contributions from noted artists including Aditya Gadhvi, Jigardan Gadhavi, and Geeta Rabari, adding to its regional authenticity.

For Shemaroo, this acquisition aligns with its ongoing digital growth strategy, which prioritises sustainable expansion, deeper regional engagement, and a steady pipeline of original and curated content across languages.
