Shahid Kapoor on ‘Udta Punjab’: “It is a very brave film”
Shahid Kapoor will be seen next in ‘Udta Punjab’ which has been making all the headlines lately. The film is stuck in a censorship row currently but Kapoor has spoken about the film and subject it takes on.
Talking to The Hindu, the actor said, “It is a very brave film. I think makers shy away from talking about subjects that are as strong”.
On his character Tommy Singh, Kapoor revealed, “Ten minutes into the script, and I was wondering, What is it that this man wants? What is he going to do next?My character is dark and he is an addict. As exciting and fun as he seems to be, he actually has no problem. He is his own problem. It۪s all in his head”.
There were a number of hurdles that Kapoor had to overcome. He concluded, “The shoots were very tiring. My trainer didn۪t let me eat much because I had to look a certain way”.
‘Udta Punjab’ is still set for a 17th June release but whether the censorship issue delays it remains to be seen.
The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh.
