Shah Rukh Khan: “It’s amazing what Deepika, Priyanka, Irrfan have achieved in Hollywood”

With actresses joining many Indian actors in Hollywood, it surely is becoming a trend. Be it Priyanka Chopra’s thrilling upcoming promos as an FBI agent for Hollywood television series ‘Quantico’ or recent stills of Deepika Padukone in Vin Diesel starrer ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’, the leading ladies of Bollywood are certainly creating ripples in Hollywood and making the Indian fraternity and audiences alike, proud.

When Bollywood’s Baadshah, Shah Rukh Khan, was asked how it felt to see the work achieved by fellow co-stars and co-actors in the West,Pinkvilla reports, “It’s amazing what Deepika [Padukone], Priyanka [Chopra], Irrfan [Khan], Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, Om Puriji have achieved. It’s extremely gutsy. I have seen some of their work. Be it Irrfan, Peecee [Chopra] or Deepika, who showed me some of her pics recently. I think it is fantastic. They are all extremely talented. They know their job. All the names that I have mentioned are all nearly National Award winners. Be it Irrfan or Peecee or Deepika, they are all fantastic actors who know their craft. They are the finest actors we have in our country.”

The superstar believes it’s a confidence boost for many, not only within India but also improving the international perspective of India as a country, resulting in a disregard for stereotypes, creating opportunities for work both within and outside of the industry. The actor continued, “It opens doors for actors to believe in themselves more. It actually makes West look at India in a way that is like saying, ‘Look at the talent in India.’ The fact is that the world can look at your in a different light because it is not just a typical Indian character that we are playing anymore. There are no more ‘Pray tell me sir’ kind of lines. It’s about just being an actor maybe with an accent. I see Chinese actors in English films. No one questions their accent or the way they are. So I think it is a really nice thing and on the other side, this way it will really help these actors to take their own films to an international audience, because they are internationally known now.”

If this was the case, the transition between fraternities would be sensational and maybe audiences would have a chance to see more Bollywood actors sharing the red carpet with Priyanka Chopra at the prestigious Oscars next year. Wouldn’t you agree?
