Saif Ali Khan fined Rs 90 lakh for duty evasion

It seems even when the actor isn’t in the news for his films or wedding, Saif Ali Khan just can’t seem to keep out of trouble. Following interrogration on Saturday��by the Enforcement Directorate about duty evasion on his car, Khan has been slapped with a fine of Rs 90 lakh.

As reported by Mid-Day, in 2004 Khan had allegedly��used the name of a Kerala resident, Mohammed Kolangara,��to import a Toyota Land Cruiser from Dubai. In investigations, police determined that Kolangara would not be able to afford such an expensive car and this eventually led to records that Khan had actually purchased the vehicle.

An official said, “In the hope to save Rs 30,000, Saif will now be spending Rs 90 lakh to the ED, which includes the penalty as well as the tax amount”. Had Khan have paid the Rs 30 lakh, matters would not have reached this stage, it seems.

When contacted, Khan seemed more than miffed, “a lot of things have been published in the media. What is new with you? I am not interested in your questions”.
