Sabras Radio crowns winner in huge 2014 TV poll

Sabras Radio has named Indian television’s Most Loved Television Character of 2014, in the biggest UK Asian radio poll to be conducted.

The poll, which was carried out extensively online through Twitter, Facebook and Sabras Radio emails, saw actor Vivian D’Sena of ‘Madhubala’ fame being named the winner in the poll. D’Sena who played ‘RK’ in the hit Colors show, managed to take the lead very early on in the poll. On his win, D’Sena told Sabras Radio, “I would like to thank all the listeners of Sabras Radio who voted me as the Most Loved Indian TV Character this year and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.”

Sanaya Irani, who played Paro in ‘Rangrasiya’ was just inches away from the top spot but settled for second, while Rachana Parulkar who played Kalpana in ‘Ek Mutthi Aasman’ took third place. The longest running female character Akshara from ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ was in fourth and Draupadi from ‘Mahabharat’ was in fifth.

Raj Baddhan, Operations Manager, Sabras Radio said, “It was one of our biggest festive shows ever and the programme attracted worldwide recognition amongst television buffs. The lead was more or less clear from the start but the rest of the chart was not so obvious. Next year, there will be a much bigger chart for listeners to take part in.”
