Rumour: Is Govind Shahi leaving ZEE UK?

The rumour mill has been working overdrive again this morning with speculation rife that Govind Shahi, Head of Business, ZEE Europe is quitting the company for greener pastures.

Govind, who has been with ZEE Network for over twelve years, has been ZEE Network’s UK/Europe territory head since October 2009.

Rumours are linking Govind’s name to Colors and its marketing/sales management company in the UK – Di5. Coincidently, Di5 is the brainchild of Govind’s industry friend Bala Iyer. Bala’s company is also promoted by erstwhile ZEE stalwarts such as Vijay Jindal and Bhaskar Majmudar.

Further speculation also suggests that ZEE Network could be taking a stake in Di5 and possibly outsourcing ZEE Internationals sales to this team.

Last month, ZEE Network USA confirmed some managerial changes with former Zoom TV CEO, Suresh Bala crossing the Atlantic to head ZEE Network stateside, in place of Subroto Bhattacharya. Former ZEE Network UK head, Subroto said he had been asked to report to ZEE Network India as part of some “new assignments” but declined to comment any further.
