‘Rock On 2’ makers to release documentary

When it comes to the ‘Rock On’ franchise, the makers seem to leave no stone unturned. Having had the actors of the 2008 film go on their own tour then, news has it, that for the second film, the makers are set to release a documentary of the films journey.��The documentary will include the likes of��Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Prachi Desai, producer Ritesh Sidhwani and music directors Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, talking about how their own involvement with the film developed.

Talking about the 15 minute project titled ‘Magik’,��NDTV reported Akhtar expressing, “We decided we had to go back to how all it started. You have to follow what you are very excited about. There is no choice. Today, with ‘Rock On 2, we have the opportunity to push that energy a bit more.”

Akthar also spoke about how the trained to get into character in order for the film to be as authentic as possible, “You can’t pretend to be a lead singer. I have been touring with my band independently now and the music really did catch on, but it’s incredible to see the recall value of the first film’s songs…. With the sequel, we have that opportunity to push that more and do more concerts now as people are more familiar with the songs of the last film.”

‘Rock On!!’ was much appreciated by audiences and critics alike. So much so that the film received National Awards in Best Feature Film (Hindi) and Best Supporting Actor (Arjun Rampal).

Talking about the award, Akhtar expressed, “Yes that felt amazing. There have been so many wonderful stories after our Rock On!! story where people told us how they came together and formed rock bands and became aware about rock music. That also forms a part of the documentary.”

The release date for the documentary has yet to be set. ‘Rock on 2’ is set to hit the big screens on 11th November.
