Rishtey Cineplex UK to replace existing film channel

Viacom18’s soon-to-launch movies channel, Rishtey Cineplex will be replacing an existing film channel in the UK market, BizAsiaLive.com can exclusively reveal.

Without disclosing much details, BizAsiaLive.com understands that Rishtey Cineplex UK will launch by the next quarter. The launch was put back slightly due to legalities with this existing film channel. There were rumours earlier that Rishtey Cineplex would replace sister channel, News18, which has been underperforming in UK ratings.

The news comes as a big surprise, as this existing film channel is one of the UK’s most watched service. The channel’s transition to Rishtey Cineplex is expected to be quite seamless as the broadcaster owns the rights to most of this broadcaster’s film library.
