Rishi Kapoor cannot believe Parineeti Chopra got an award

Rishi Kapoor

It is award season in Bollywood currently, with a number of ceremonies already having taken place and a few more on their way. Rishi Kapoor believes that these award shows have completely lost credibility and especially questions one instance this year when Parineeti Chopra was awarded for her weight-loss.

Speaking to DNA India, Kapoor stated, “I couldn۪t believe it when they recently gave an award to Parineeti Chopra for losing weight. Can someone please give me an award for gaining weight?I never did believe in popular awards. It۪s gotten much worse now. I use award trophies as doorstops in my home. What they have done to film awards is truly tragic. They۪ve reduced them to trivia. Shameless. Agar sabko khush karna hai toh phir award ka matlab kya hua…”

Kapoor went on to add that he thinks award shows are commercialised now for purpose of airing on television.

The actor also feels being awarded the ‘lifetime achievement award’ is a way of being told to stop working andwhile he has accepted these awards, due to the pleading organisers, he shall continue working.

Rishi Kapoor will next be seen in Dharma Productions’ ‘Kapoor & Sons’ alongside Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan and Alia Bhatt.
