Ravi Sharma apologises after comments against Pakistan

Lyca Dilse presenter Ravi Sharma has released an apologetic statement after he made comments against Pakistan at a recent event.

The veteran presenter was seen in a video saying, “India is known for its democracy, for its progress, for its peaceful efforts like Mahatma Gandhi. Pakistan is known for Osama Bin Laden. Pakistan is known for terrorists. Pakistan is (inaudible). That is the reason. You can see they are all behaving like Osama and we are behaving like Gandhi.”

However Sharma has today issued the following apology; “I offer my sincere apologies for the comments I made during the Independence day protests last week. The words I used were in the heat of the moment, and do not represent my views or the person that I am. I regret what I said and am deeply sorry for the impact that my words may have had on the Pakistani community.”

Sharma has been on annual leave this week and thus not been broadcasting his show. It is not yet known when and if he will return.

The protests were held outside London’s India High Commission after the India government revoked special status for its portion of Kashmir. Four people were arrested.
