Ranveer Singh: “I was born to do Gully Boy”

Fresh from his marriage, Ranveer Singh is back at work promoting his next film release ‘Gully Boy’.

The trailer of the film was unveiled yesterday, which has been welcomed by fans globally. This will also be Singh’s first outing with Alia Bhatt.

Talking about the rap film, Singh was cited in Deccan Chronicle saying, “It was great fun being among the real boys. Interacting with them was the fondest memory; working on the dialogues and collaborating was the experience. When somebody told me about the script of Gully Boy, I told them that it is my film. If any other actor had been a part of this film instead of me then I would have burned with jealousy. I was born to do Gully Boy and I knew only I can pull off this character.”

Meanwhile, the director of the film, Zoya Akhtar, denied rumours that the film was a biopic of rappers Divine and Naezy. She said, “This is not a biopic. This is a completely fictional story; they and their music inspire it. They were the people who took me into their lives and showed me how to do it. It’s not a biopic but a fiction drama.”
